How do I send my photos?
You can send your photos two ways:
- By Regular Mail – We can scan photos from wallet size to an 8x10 size. After you check out on the site, Mail your photos to:

Your photos will be returned with your order.
- By Uploading - You can also send us your photo files by Uploading them using the links on our Order Form. You'll find it on the “Start Here” page at the lower end. We ask you to please scan your photo at a
300 to 600 dpi resolution or better and save it as a
jpg file. The file has to be at least 300kb in size or it will not be accepted in the upload. Files smaller than 300kb will not be usable for photo cards, as that is the
Minimum size they can be. Please do not change the size, sharpen or brighten the image or do any editing to the photo yourself. We will do all that for you at no extra charge. You can also send us your file on a CD. We return all photos and CD's.
Here are a few scanning tips:
- Scan good quality photos. Try not to use dark photos or ones that are too bright. We can make some adjustments but it's better to start with a nice clear photo. If the photo is not sharp, we can sharpen a little but we can NOT bring a photo back in focus if it is out of focus to start.
- DO NOT scan photos that were printed from a home computer printer. Sending the actual digital file would be a better choice. Scanning a home printed photo will be very low resolution and the lines that the printer makes as it is printing will be visible when we print them.
- If you want a full bleed larger card where the photo is the entire front of the card, it's best to scan the photo at 600 dpi or higher. If the file is too large and you have trouble uploading it, then just send it to us on a CD.
- If you are going to take your photo for the card with a digital camera then we suggest that you take the photos at the highest resolution your camera offers. The files will be larger and you won't be able to takes as many photos but the resolution will be better to work with to make the cards.
How long does it take for an order to be completed?
Once we receive the photos, it usually takes us two to three days to get the work designed. Once your design is completed we’ll email you a PDF proof. We will make one revision for free (subsequent revisions are $20.00 each). Once the design is approved, it will take 7 to 10 business days to complete your order. Our cards are printed on a commercial printing press, and in order for us to sell them as cost effectively as possible, we need to run your order on the same press run as several other orders. Once enough orders are in-house to fill out a “press sheet”, the order goes to press. Orders received after Dec. 1st will be produced digitally in order to save time. The difference in print quality is not noticeable to the average person, but our goal with mycardworks.com is to provide top quality products at competitive prices.
How does the photo look on the cards, are they photo quality?
Yes, we use top of the line commercial presses for our cards. Images and colors are vibrantly saturated and they will last for years!
What type of card stock do we use?
Our stock is a bright white, 100# Gloss Cover. We also use an aqueous coating to give your photos that extra “pop”.
I see some things I like but nothing matches exactly what I am looking for. Can you change some things?
Most definitely! We can customize any order. Just email us your ideas. We love doing that!
I have a photo I like but I want to cut out a person in the photo. Is that possible?
Yes, it is. All you have to do is give us the details and we'll do the editing for you free of charge. We can add someone to a photo, take someone out, remove blemishes, lighten or darken if it's not too extreme and even change a color photo to a black and white, sepia toned, or hand tinted.
What happens to my photos?
We ship them back to you. We just make a copy of them and use the copy to do all the work with. Your originals are returned to you with your order.
Can I use a photo from a studio or a professional photographer?
Yes, you may BUT we will need an e-mail from the photographer or a signed release form from the studio or photographer to do your cards. The form can be downloaded
here.
I have a digital photo, may I use that?
Yes you can, as long as it is a high enough resolution to do a nice print. (300 dpi or better) If you're not sure about the resolution, we can let you know when you send it if it's good enough to print.
What types and size of photographs should I send?
You can send any size photos from a wallet to an 8x10 in size and it is best to send the "original" photo to us and not a computer printer reprint. The original gives us more photo information to scan in and makes for a better quality photo card where the computer printed copy does not. We can use a computer printed copy but the quality will be less and there may be visible lines running through the image.
How is My Privacy Protected?
We recognize your right to confidentiality and are committed to protecting your privacy. We use the information that we collect on our Web sites to provide you with a superior shopping experience and to communicate with you about products, services, and promotions.
When you place an order, we will ask you to set up "your account," which includes your name, e-mail address, mailing address, credit card number and expiration date, as well as certain other information. Using your account information, we will send you communications that we believe are relevant to you, including reminders and emails two or three times a year. If you would like to review or revise the information we have in your account, you may access such information by clicking on the "your account" link on any screen.
Security
When you place an order online at MyCardworks, your personal information and credit card or debit card information are encrypted using SSL encryption technology before being sent over the Internet, We use SSL technology to prevent your information from being stolen or intercepted while being transferred to us. Your credit card information is always stored in encrypted form in a restricted-access database that is away from our Web site database so it isn't connected to the Internet, to keep it safe from hackers.
Cookies
To personalize and enhance your browsing and shopping experience, we use a feature on your Internet browser called a cookie. Cookies are small files that your Web browser places on your computer's hard drive. We use cookies to let us know that you are a prior customer and to retrieve certain information previously provided by you to us, so that you do not need to re-enter this information every time you shop at the site. Cookies are not used to access information entered on the secure server. This information can be accessed only when you enter your name and password. If you choose to configure your browser to remove or reject our cookies, you will not be able to make purchases from our Web store or take advantage of many of our features.
What is your Return Policy?
Our goal is to provide you with cards that will serve as keepsakes, and will be the topic of discussion of your friends and family for a long time.
- If we make a mistake on your order we will express ship corrected materials to you a.s.a.p. Please keep in mind that your computer monitor may not give the most accurate color. If we see anything that concerns us on the pictures you send us, we will point it out in the emailed proof we send you. Once the proof is approved, any spelling mistakes or problems with photo positioning etc. will not be the responsibility of
cardworks. We will do everything we can to set your mind at ease that your cards will be EXACTLY what you had hoped for!
- If you provided us with incorrect information or you are not happy with the photo you sent us, we will be happy to work with you to correct the problem and give you a 40% discount.
- In order to receive a refund, you must return the order in its entirety, in original condition, for a refund within 30 days. Partial refunds for partial returns are not allowed. The 30 days begins 3 days after MyCardworks shipped your order. Refunds will be for product only. Shipping charges are non-refundable. All refunds will be processed within 7 business days of the receipt of your returned order.
